Meet Peter R. Dowdy – We talk Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cryptocurrency and Card Games

In our society, whether we like to admit it or not, it’s almost impossible to become a member of the 1%. Unless you’ve had generational wealth, a brilliant idea (remember that for reference later), or you are a star athlete. And even then, you’ll still face challenges of being accepted into the ‘secret society.’ So as a young black American, sorry to say, our choices are limited, and sometimes they possibly drive us to do the unthinkable. As a high school freshman, I knew I was destined to change the world in a major way but didn’t know how. With entrepreneurial inspiration always around, I had pretty much no excuse of how to make something out of nothing. But where to start? Around this time of the early 2000s, my only venture was bootleg CDs. I knew that wasn’t going to make me millions unless I was selling my OWN music, which at the time, I wasn’t. All I did was play games, but with the games I played, it wasn’t going to make me a millionaire. I loved playing Monopoly, but as others played to understand the philosophy of the real estate and purchasing within the game, I focused on the concept of how the money was made and its function. Think about it! Here we were playing an intense game making fictional purchases of land and businesses and NO ONE was questioning the fact that we were playing with money that we couldn’t use anywhere else. This was made up money and it had a use! Fuck everything else about Monopoly. THAT, that was the key part. It had a use. It wasn’t the normal money we used, but my God, it had a use.

What are your thoughts – Did the photographer go too far?

What are your thoughts – Did the wedding photographer go too far? 🤔

Here’s the story, a photographer posted on Reddit’s “Am I The A**hole” forum last month explaining why she deleted photos from a wedding. Apparently, the photographer was refused a 20 minute break and a plate of food by the bridal party. What you should know is that she is a friend of the newlyweds, was originally scheduled to attend the wedding as a guest but switched to a photographer when asked to step in when they were short. She agreed and guess how much she decided to charge them, $250.00 for about 7 hours of work. 👀 What a deal, right?!?! Well, things didn’t go as planned. According to Newsweek, when the photographer approached the newlyweds about taking a break and grabbing a bit to eat at the venue she was refused and given an ultimatum by the couple. “Either be the photographer or not!” Well you already know what she decided – was she wrong?

REWIND: Negrita Come Coco

REWIND: Negrita Come Coco

La Negrita Come Coco is a character who promotes Dominican popular culture through the web and social networks. She fights for the acceptance of Afro-descendant origins in society and, in a humorous way, denounces the inequalities present in the country.

All the content of her website and social networks are prepared from a journalistic point of view and based on previous interviews and research.

The name originates from Dominican Republic people who often use that term to discriminate against women with dark skin and curly hair. In this way, La Negrita appropriates the name and makes fun of those full of prejudices , showing them that anyone with these physical characteristics can be intelligent and capable.

Plus — with her curvy body, curly hair, and tan skin — she shows that no matter how we look, the important thing is to value ourselves.
